MommyFest Giveaway - Aveeno Positively Ageless Night Cream

One of my favorite extra-curricular activities is being a BzzAgent. I get to try out a lot of great products and share my opinions about them. One of my current campaigns is for Aveeno Positively Ageless. I love Aveeno products and figured I would share one of the full-sized samples that I received from BzzAgent.

In celebration of MommyFest, I'm giving away one full-sized Aveeno Positively Ageless Firming Night Cream (a $20 value).

This giveaway is open to anyone who reads my blog and leaves a comment (see below) regardless of whether or not you are participating in MommyFest. But don't fret if you don't win because Aveeno is giving free samples in conjunction with the BzzAgent Campaign.

Requirements:

(1) In order to participate, you need to leave a comment with an opinion (positive or negative) about Aveeno products. Feel free to name your favorite Aveeno product, if you like. If you haven't tried Aveeno, just say so!

(2) If you have a blog, be sure to leave a link to your blog in the Mr. Linky (if I manage to get it set up correctly - it's my first Mr. Linky attempt!) I want everyone to have an opportunity for some link-love!

(3) Provide an email where you can be contacted if you win!

Deadline:
I'll leave the contest open until the end of MommyFest then will announce a winner on Monday, May 19th.

Note: Winner will need to provide a US shipping address.

I've used Aveeno products for baby but never for myself. (I know, sad that I buy better stuff for the kids than for myself...but isn't that the way with a mom sometimes?) This is pretty cool, though. And I certainly could use a little age-defying on my face! :) Happy Mother's Day!

Sounds great! I've never tried Aveeno, but I've heard nothing but good things about this brand. :)

I have actually never tried anything by Aveeno, I've been meaning to buy some of their products but always either forget or don't know how the product will be!

I love Aveeno! They have all of the best lotions. I haven't tried positively ageless but I'm sure it's great too.

I love every Aveeno product I try. My skin is dry and sensitive and their products never cause bad reactions (that's a big deal coming from me.) Thanks for the great give away!

After Zoe was born, someone recommended an Aveeno bubble bath product that I've used on and off since then. The stuff is greatness but I can't remember the name of it.

I'm a bzzagent too! Aveeno is my favorite brand. There lotion is one of the few that actually give my itchy skin some relief. I love the body wash as well. I've used some of the facial cleaning products & moisturizers as well, but not as much as the body products. Great brand!

All I have really used is the Aveeno baby lotion, which I like. It would be fun to try something for myself!

  • Grateful Gramma

I've been using Aveeno moisturizer now for several weeks and like it a lot.

I love Aveeno! I didn't get that campaign, but I did get the mousturizing lotion with SPF. I love all their products and stock up when I can match the deals to the coupons.

It sounds nice, but I've never tried Aveeno before. Thank you for the chance to win :)

I use the aveeno body lotions for dry skin. As I am approaching my 40's a little faster than I would like this would give me a chance to firm up and hopefully look young again :)Hope to see you at my blog for Mommyfest as well!

  • Killlashandra

I've used Aveeno firm lotion before and I can't say it really did what the bottle said it would do. I would often use it at night and wake up in the middle of the night because my hands hurt due to dryness. Then I'd slather another lotion on and return to blissful slumbers.

So I don't know, I'm kinda mixed. A lot of people including my Dad really like it but maybe the dry climate down here just got the best of it.

I've never actually used Aveeno products but I've heard good things about them and I would love the chance to try them out for myself!

Don't include me in the drawing... I have my own to Buzz with, and I am using it myself, lol. Just wanted to say I think you came up with a neat way to Buzz this item since you weren't planning on using it yourself! I just wish they'd given us more coupons and samples. I could have given away a few dozen of them for more instant gratification. I've sent many people to the site to get a coupon instead.

I love Baby Aveeno and would like to try their adult items

Hi! I love the Aveeno lotions for baby, but I have to be honest - the diaper cream didn't do much for us. It was fine if there was a tiny bit of redness but if things got really rashy I had to switch to something more hardcore. I found it worked more like lotion than cream. It kinda absorbed into the skin instead of coating and protecting.

Anyways, this is a fun blog - I love your header! Come visit me sometime at www.supermomcentral.blogspot.com.

    Party on!

Aveeno stuff is usually more expensive than I can pay, BUT their handcream that doesn't wash off is sooooo worth the money! The only stuff I'll use at night. Love it!

I use aveeno skin daily moisturizing firming cream, and I'm a male, 29 years old.

Although I'm not a big fan of the smell, it does have a dramatic impact on my skin tone and firmness.

Since Aveeno uses soy and oatmeal, I'm a big fan. I'm all about natural ingredients, and I'm tired of spending a fortune on products like celex.

If you really are "all about natural ingredients" you might consider tossing your Aveeno in the rubbish bin. Aveeno's successful marketing of its products as "natural" is just that - _marketing_. The primary ingredients in, for example, the Positively Ageless Lifting & Firming Night Cream are, after water and glycerin:

Dimethicone, Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine, Cetyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Cyclohexasiloxane, and Polyacrylamide.

Most of these are decidedly _not_ natural; they are synthetic chemicals, several of them not especially good for living things. Dimethicone is a silicone based polymer: yes, silicone, just like caulk. Silicone is _generally_ non-reactive, but, as the unfortunate debacle with leaking silicone breast implants demonstrated, may not be all kittens and cupcakes when introduced directly into the bloodstream.

Equally worrisome is Polyacrylamide. This polymer quickly downcycles to acrylamide, a troublesome little molecule that is, among other things, a nerve toxin and carcinogen. What's worse, "residual" unpolymerized acrylamide is always present in varying amounts in Polyacrylamide. As a chemist, I'm continually surprised by what I see on ingredient lists.

The upshot: are chemical-laden face creams going to cause you to keel over dead in front on the mirro? Probably not. But here's a word you can drop at your next cocktail party: Bioaccumulation. You're big sponges, darlings. While most of the millions of substances (natural and synthetic) that we take on board (ingest, inhale, absorb through skin, etc) every day are processed out, many of them accumulate in the body. And of those, there are some which will, inevitably, cause some trouble. And when "trouble" in biological terms means "cancer" or "Parkinson's", perhaps it would be best to err on the side of caution:

    Shop organic when possible;
    Avoid plastics and other off-gassers in the home as much as is practical;

and, when it comes to lotions and the like:

If you wouldn't _eat it_, don't put it on your skin.
